I don’t think that these have been built yet by anyone, but I want these:
1. Swap Inspection Tool – a utility that can simply peer into swap space and tell me whatever it can about what is using it. PIDs, process names, anything. I know it’s just a snapshot, and it could all change very quickly, but so does ps output.
2. Filesystem Cache Inspection Tool – similar to above, but I’d like something that can allow me to look to see what is actually in filesystem cache at the current moment.
Am I on crack to think that these things could be built ?
That Filesystem Cache thingy would be sick.
